art galler 009On the 27th June 2015, Milton Keynes Reader Service held its Annual General Meeting. The event took place at the main office of Age UK that is located at Peartree Centre.

As usual, the beginning of the meeting was devoted to the previous year’s report and other issues that had been discussed in 2014. After the conformation of the correct overview of the last minutes of the meeting, the focus was gradually shifted to the current agenda.

First, Reader Service coordinator Karen delivered the report about the progress of the charity that was made in 2015. In the introductory part of her statement, she welcomed new users and volunteers. In the main section, Karen spoke about the important events that were organized by the Reader Service, such as quiz night and the 25th celebration of the service. As for funding, it was good to know that the grant from Milton Keynes council had been reinstated for years 2015 – 2016. At the end of her speech, Karen praised the invaluable contribution of the volunteers and acknowledged their great impact on the services, provided by the organisation such as reading, shop and see, and facilitation.

After the approval of the annual report, Philip Ward read the treasurer’s notes, revealing the balance for years 2014 – 2015. Unfortunately, due to the family matters the treasurer himself could not attend the meeting.

At the final stage of the formal part, Paula Suchy was re-elected as a chairperson of the Reader service, being fully supported by the members of the organisation and the audience. As a new leader, Paula mentioned the recently formed fundraising committee and gave her explanation about the new status of the charity that is still being worked on.

After the agreement to the minor changes to the constitution, that were proposed by the development committee, everybody were invited to have coffee and cake. The users had an opportunity to chat to their friends, and newcomers were able to learn more about Reader service and their long lasting legacy of Milton Keynes.
